The Road Less Travelled by Peck
by Rob Redmond - April 12, 2008
Scott Peck’s The Road Less Traveled will prompt introspection on a basic level by introducing everyday psychological mismanagement of the mind. Those who wonder why their careers are not where they could be will find valuable insights within.
I was first introduced to The Road by my good friend Mark Groenewold. This is a well-written book that is a basic primer in introspection. Without self-awareness, we cannot progress as we cannot possibly know where we are. There is some discussion of religion, but nothing specific enough to take this off the list of good books for those who wonder why their careers are not where they hoped they would be.
Inside the book are the following concepts:
- What is Discipline?
- Responsibility - taking too much or too little is pervasive
- What is love?
- Serendipity
- Entropy
The Road Less Traveled is a great first-read for anyone, anywhere who wishes to begin a program of self improvement and change in behavior to alter the course of their careers or simply to increase their levels of personal satisfaction and contentment in life. And that is exactly the road that is less traveled.
